Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has reinstated the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Auwalu Sankara, after lifting his suspension with immediate effect.
This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Bala Ibrahim, and made available to journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
The statement noted that Sankara was suspended following allegations related to an extramarital affair brought before the Kano State Hisbah Board. However, his suspension was lifted after an Upper Sharia Court in Kano discharged and acquitted him of all charges.
The SSG explained, “The lifting of the suspension followed the judgment of the Upper Sharia Court, which cleared Hon. Auwalu Sankara of any wrongdoing in the case.”
On Monday, Justice Ibrahim Sarki Yola of the Kano State Upper Sharia Court delivered the verdict, declaring that the case lacked merit. The judge stated:
“Based on the police reports, this case filed against Taslim Baba Nabegu and Auwalu Dalladi Sankara lacks merit and any reliable evidence for the court to proceed with it. Therefore, the case is hereby struck out. The first and second defendants are also discharged.”
The case against Sankara stemmed from an October incident in which he was arrested by Kano State Hisbah officials. The arrest followed a complaint by one Nasiru Buba Jalam, who accused the commissioner of engaging in an extramarital affair with his wife.
Sankara’s acquittal and subsequent reinstatement mark the resolution of the allegations that had temporarily interrupted his service in the Jigawa State government.
