The Ogun State Government has clarified that the recently declared work-free day applies solely to civil and public servants in the state.

This announcement was made on Friday in a statement by Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy. He emphasized that the holiday does not extend to the private sector.

“The work-free day is exclusively for civil and public servants to enable them travel to their local government areas and participate in the council elections scheduled for tomorrow,” Akinmade explained.

He added that the Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, issued a circular to ensure proper communication of this decision to all concerned.

The clarification was deemed necessary to avoid confusion, as the holiday was specifically intended to support the electoral process at the grassroots level.
