President Bola Tinubu has appointed Daniel Bwala, who previously served as a campaign spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar—Tinubu’s main challenger in the 2023 presidential election—as his Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media (State House).

In addition to Bwala’s appointment, Tinubu approved three new Director-General positions across various government agencies.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced the appointments on Thursday night, listing Olawale Olopade as the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Abisoye Fagade as the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, and Dr. Adebowale Adedokun as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

Olawale Olopade, the new head of the National Sports Commission, is a seasoned sports administrator with years of experience in the sector.

He previously served as Commissioner of Youth and Sports in Ogun State and chaired the local organizing committee for the 2024 National Sports Festival.

His leadership in sports administration is widely recognized, and his new role reflects a continued commitment to advancing the national sports landscape.

Dr. Abisoye Fagade, appointed as the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, brings a strong background in marketing communication to his new role.

As founder and managing director of Sodium Brand Solutions, Fagade has established himself as a prominent figure in the communications industry, and he is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, now leading the Bureau of Public Procurement, previously held the position of Director of Research/Training and Strategic Planning at the bureau.

His appointment comes with expectations to drive improvements in public procurement standards across the nation.

In his new capacity, Daniel Bwala, a lawyer and respected public affairs analyst, will serve as Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media.

His appointment signals a significant collaboration with someone who was recently allied with a leading opposition figure.

President Tinubu urged the newly appointed officials to approach their roles with “dedication, patriotism, and excellence,” emphasizing that their work would be critical in advancing government objectives across their respective fields.
