The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its commitment to reclaiming leadership from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Acting chairman of the APC in Oyo, Alhaji Olayide Abas, voiced this determination while meeting with party leaders from Ibadan Outer City, covering six local government areas.

Abas assured party members that APC was fully prepared to take back the Agodi Government House from the PDP.

He reflected on recent elections in which PDP’s Governor Seyi Makinde defeated APC candidates, including Adebayo Adelabu in 2019 and Teslim Folarin in the 2023 election, securing Makinde’s second term.

“With the strong support of notable personalities in our delegation and the message conveyed through your visit, I am confident that our party is ready for the challenges ahead”.

“We will leave no stone unturned to ensure APC’s return to power in Oyo State in 2027″, he said.

Highlighting the strengthened unity within the APC, Abas noted, “I have met virtually all stakeholders across the state, and I can confidently say peace and harmony have been restored in our party.”

He revealed that numerous members who left before the last general election have now rejoined the party, and even members of other political parties, including the PDP, are expressing interest in joining the APC.

“In Ibadan North just last week, we welcomed hundreds of former PDP members into our fold. We’re working tirelessly to reinforce APC as the leading party in Oyo State,” Abas added.
