Electricity has been restored in four states under the Jos Electricity Distribution franchise, including Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, and Benue.

The power was restored at approximately 7:20 PM on Wednesday, bringing joy to residents of Jos, the capital of Plateau State, who erupted in jubilation as the lights came back on.

For the past ten days, several northern states had been plunged into darkness due to the tripping of the 330kV transmission line between Benue and Enugu states.

The blackout had a severe impact on the daily lives and businesses of residents in the affected areas, leading to widespread lamentation.

On Monday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated that President Tinubu was actively leading efforts to end the disruptions that have paralyzed social and economic activities in the North.

He summoned the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to address the crisis.

Onanuga emphasized that President Tinubu was saddened by reports of vandalism and willful destruction of power infrastructure that contributed to the blackout.

The President directed the Minister of Power and relevant agencies to expedite the restoration of electricity to all affected states, ensuring that work continues unhindered.
