Ekiti Governor Presents N376 Billion 2025 Budget to House of Assembly

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has submitted the 2025 Appropriation Bill, proposing a budget estimate of N376 billion to the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

During his presentation on Tuesday at the state assembly in Ado-Ekiti, he outlined the budget of N375,790,077,618.15, which is tagged the “Budget of Sustainable Impact.”

The budget allocates N183,463,507,129.54 for capital expenditure, representing 49 percent of the total budget, while recurrent expenditure amounts to N192,326,570,488.61, making up 51 percent.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the budget will prioritize food security, wealth creation, and the welfare of the people.

He stated that its objectives include creating sustainable prosperity and stimulating economic growth by equipping citizens with essential skills, generating job opportunities for youths and women, and enhancing access to Information Communication Technology.

“The proposed 2025 budget was prepared in line with global best practices and enabling policy frameworks,” he noted.

He further added that the budget has been designed to build on ongoing capital projects and address the current economic challenges. Funding for the budget will come from federal allocations, VAT, independent revenue from ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), contributions from tertiary institutions, international donor agencies, and other income sources.

In his welcome address, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aderiye Aribasoye, assured the people of Ekiti that the lawmakers would work diligently for the swift passage of the budget, emphasizing that every naira allocated would be utilized for the best interests of the state.
