The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has emphasized that no region in Ogun State will be overlooked in the developmental projects outlined in his administration’s 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2025 Budget.

He stated, “Projects were evenly distributed to the three Senatorial Districts in accordance with the 2024 budget.”

Governor Dapo Abiodun made these remarks during a town hall meeting focused on the MTEF and 2025 Budget, held at the Bisi Rodipe Event Center in Ijebu-Ode.

He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their contributions during the consultations that shaped the 2024 budget.

The governor announced that his administration has approved the reconstruction of key roads in the Ogun East Senatorial District, which include the Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road, the Igbeba road leading to the Eid praying ground and Prison, Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode, and the Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo road.

Represented by Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, the Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Governor Abiodun noted that despite facing fiscal pressures, his administration has initiated the construction of over 64 kilometers of rural roads across the state. He remarked,

“This construction of rural roads marks pivotal steps in our ongoing commitment towards expanding infrastructural development for easy rural accessibility and boosting agricultural productivity in the state.”

“In continuation of our infrastructural development,” he added, “our administration recently approved the reconstruction of the Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road in Ijebu-North-East, Igbeba road to Eid praying ground to Prison, Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode, and Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo road. Despite the fiscal pressures and increased government spending, infrastructural investments to promote rural development and the economy have equally gained attention.”

Furthermore, Governor Abiodun revealed that, in partnership with the Lagos and Oyo State Governments, his administration has acquired an additional 25 patrol vans and surveillance drones to enhance monitoring along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

He highlighted the construction and impending completion of the Gateway International Agro-cargo Airport, which is set to establish the state as a major logistics hub in the sub-region, leveraging the Africa Quality Assurance Center developed by the Africa Export-Import Bank.

Prince Abiodun disclosed that his administration has completed over 600 kilometers of road projects across the state, with 243.3 kilometers finished in the Ogun East Senatorial District.

Among the completed roads are the Chris-Ogunbajo-Erunwon road, Palace road, Ijebu-Itele, Club road, Balogun Kuku road, Ijebu-Ode, and the reconstruction of internal roads at Olabisi Onabanjo University.

He noted that work has also commenced on the double self-culvert on Alaran River, along with improvements on Liberty road, Oru, and the Awokoya road in Ijebu-Ode.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, shared in his welcome address that 377 inputs were received during the last town hall meetings held in 2023.

He indicated that 90% of these, equating to 340 inputs, have been incorporated into the budget. Olabimtan assured attendees that the remaining 40 inputs would be included in the 2025 budget and the MTEF.

He further encouraged residents of the Senatorial District to submit their suggestions for the planning and implementation of the budget.

In their remarks, the Gbegande of Ososa, Oba Toye Alatishe, and the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Rasaq Adenugba, praised the administration for maintaining the town hall meetings, which provide a platform for community input in the budgeting process.

They affirmed that the monarchs in the district would continue to support the vision and mission of the current administration. Trade unions, associations, religious bodies, and traditional rulers also contributed their perspectives to the 2025 budget discussions.
