Five Air Force Personnel Killed in Jos-Akwanga Road Crash

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the death of five personnel following a fatal road accident along the Jos-Akwanga expressway.

In a statement issued by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, the accident occurred on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, as the personnel were on their way to Abuja for a sporting event. Their vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming truck, leading to the tragic loss of lives.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) deeply regrets to announce the loss of 5 of our gallant personnel who were involved in a tragic road traffic accident on 22 October 2024,” the statement read.

The accident took place at Hawan Kibo, along the Jos-Akwanga Express Road. Akinboyewa added that NAF has initiated necessary administrative protocols to provide support to the families of the deceased personnel.

“We appeal to the public to respect the privacy of the victims’ families during this difficult time and to refrain from sharing unverified details. May their souls rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.

NAF promised to provide further updates as the situation unfolds.
