Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has approved a harmonisation allowance of N10,000 for all pensioners in the state, further demonstrating his administration’s commitment to the welfare of senior citizens.
The approval came after the submission of the pension lift report by the state’s Head of Civil Service, Mr. Elijah Evenemi. Governor Ododo commended the pensioners for their dedication and contributions during their active service years.
“My administration remains committed to prioritising the well-being of our senior citizens,” the governor stated. He also pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, former Governor Yahaya Bello, assuring that pensioners earning below N50,000 will be enrolled in the health insurance scheme at both state and local government levels.
He emphasized that since assuming office, pensioners have consistently received their monthly pensions on time.
Earlier, Mr. Ohida Otaru, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Kogi State, praised Governor Ododo for granting the union an audience after 20 years without any interface on the adjustment of welfare packages for members.
He specifically applauded the governor for the upward adjustment of pensions, noting that this would significantly improve the lives of Kogi’s pensioners.
