The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will secure victory in the upcoming November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Ganduje made this assertion during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure, where he led the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to rally support for the party’s candidate, incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Addressing the gathering, which included prominent APC figures such as Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ekiti Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, and Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun (represented by Secretary to the State Government Talabi Olatokunbo), Ganduje emphasized the party’s broader goal of capturing more states in the Southwest.
He said, “In this geopolitical zone, we must deliver 100 percent in favor of APC. Ondo must be at the forefront, and we will also capture Oyo and Osun.”
While stating that the party would not disclose its full strategy, Ganduje urged APC leaders to unite and work closely to ensure a smooth victory.
“This election is a task that must be done,” he declared, announcing that Governor Sanwo-Olu would lead the APC’s National Campaign Council for the Ondo election. Ganduje also encouraged party members to conduct grassroots campaigns, saying, “You have to visit house to house, neighbor to neighbor, and ensure that people come out to vote.”
The APC chairman further called on aspirants who contested the governorship ticket with Aiyedatiwa to unite behind the governor for the election. He reassured them, “There is no victor, no vanquish in the exercise.”
In his remarks, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of unity within the party, urging all factions to come together to secure victory. He said, “This gathering is to embrace all of us and for all of us to agree. Mr. President is fully aware of what we are doing here, and he has given his consent to this.”
Sanwo-Olu concluded by stressing the strength of the APC when united, stating, “When we come together, we are even bigger than whatever force that wants to come within. We need everybody in that train regardless of our differences.”
