The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the unfortunate death of two individuals following the collapse of a school fence in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.
The tragic incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved three individuals—Amaka, aged 30, Etim, aged 28, and Emmanuel, a 12-year-old boy—who were passing by the school at the time of the collapse.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident to journalists on Tuesday, providing further details about the event.
According to Hundeyin, the incident took place around 11:00 am on Apano Street in Ejigbo during a heavy downpour.
“The fence collapsed on Amaka, Etim, and Emmanuel, all residents of Ejigbo, while they were walking home during the heavy rainfall,” said Hundeyin. “As a result, the trio sustained severe injuries and fell unconscious.”
Emergency responders rushed the victims to Isolo General Hospital for urgent treatment, but sadly, Etim and Emmanuel were declared dead by the attending doctor.
Amaka, who survived the incident, is currently receiving medical care at the Orthopaedic Hospital in Igbobi, where she is being treated for her injuries.
