The Lagos State Task Force has seized at least 82 commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, for operating in restricted areas in violation of the state’s traffic laws.

The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by the state government to enforce road safety regulations and curtail illegal Okada operations across the metropolis.

Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, Mr. Adetayo Akerele, confirmed the seizure during recent operations in key areas including Berger, Mile 2 Oke, and Orile.

He emphasized the agency’s commitment to maintaining order and safety on Lagos roads through sustained enforcement activities.

Akerele reiterated that both Okada riders and their passengers caught violating the state’s restrictions would face legal consequences.

“Passengers on Okada are as guilty as the riders. If caught, they will face the full weight of the law alongside the riders,” Akerele stated.

He further stressed: “The Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that Lagos roads remain safe and motorable for the public.

Residents are encouraged to adhere to the regulations, as these efforts are in place to protect the lives and property of all residents.”
