In a recent announcement, Dr. Nnasia Asanga, the Acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), revealed that 44,000 candidates, representing 55% of the 67,340 students who participated in the NBC/NTC examinations, earned five credits or more, including key subjects like English Language and Mathematics.

Speaking during the release of the June/July 2024 NBC/NTC In-School examination results in Benin, Edo State, Dr. Asanga further disclosed that 62,235 candidates (92.42% of those who took the exams) secured five credits or more, regardless of their performance in English Language and Mathematics.

“The 2024 in-school NBC/NTC examinations were conducted nationwide from 27th June to 31st July, 2024. A total of 67,751 candidates registered for the examinations in 1,708 centres across all the States of the Federation, including FCT, while 67,340 sat for the exam,” he explained.

This year’s enrollment of 67,751 candidates represented a notable 25% increase over the previous year, which saw 54,301 candidates register for the examinations.

Dr. Asanga emphasized the significance of this growth in participation, describing it as a promising indicator for the nation’s technical and business education sectors.

However, Dr. Asanga also highlighted that 349 candidates, which accounts for 0.52% of the total number of participants, were found guilty of examination malpractice.

He reiterated NABTEB’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process, stating that stringent measures were in place to deter such activities.
