Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has asserted that the current political climate will compel Nigerians to demand change in the 2027 elections.
Kwankwaso made this statement while welcoming a significant number of All Progressives Congress (APC) members who have recently defected to the NNPP in Kano State.
He received these new members from the Dala, Kiru, and Gwale local government areas at his residence on Miller Road in Kano.
In his remarks, he stated, “Nigerians, particularly those in the northern regions, have suffered enough, and no amount of pressure or intimidation will sway their resolve.”
He further urged citizens to reconsider the current political landscape, emphasizing that it has become evident that the APC-led government is fundamentally opposed to the interests of the impoverished masses.
“It is now clear that regardless of their beliefs and plans to use security agents and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the upcoming elections, it will not be feasible, as Nigerians are weary and will surely fight for change,” Kwankwaso declared.
Describing the gathering as historic, he noted that the influx of individuals from Dala, Kiru, Gwale, and Dawakintofa local governments joining the NNPP reflects the collapse of the APC’s influence in those regions.
He remarked, “The APC, which was initially formed to alleviate the hardships faced by the poor, has now turned against them, with insecurity and poverty deeply entrenched in the fabric of Nigeria. Nigerians are tired,” he concluded.
