Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called on Nigerians to prioritize efforts toward rebuilding the country.

Speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational church service organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, the governor emphasized the need for collective efforts in strengthening Nigeria.

The service, part of activities to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, was held at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, with the theme: “Rebuilders of Broken Foundations.” Representing the governor at the event was the Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube.

Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the theme of the service was both timely and significant, as it underscored the role of citizens in contributing to the restoration and growth of the nation.

“Government alone cannot build or rebuild a nation. Each of us must be willing to rebuild our nation,” he remarked. He further urged Nigerians not only to focus on their rights but also on their responsibilities, stressing that this collective effort is essential for the country’s progress.

The governor also noted that infrastructure development is critical to fostering economic growth and ensuring secure communities.

“We have embarked on transformative plans to boost our economy, creating opportunities for future growth for us all,” Sanwo-Olu added, underscoring his administration’s commitment to building a sustainable future for Lagos.

In his sermon, Bishop Jeremiah Adeyemi of CMAG International Ministry encouraged Nigerians to remain humble, united, and focused on rebuilding the nation.

Drawing from Isaiah 58:12 and Zechariah 1:18, the bishop prayed for God’s mercy and blessings on Nigeria, declaring, “Showers of blessings shall reign on Nigeria, and our story will change for better.”

Also speaking at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that Lagos residents benefit from the dividends of democracy through various state-led initiatives.

The service brought together a wide range of participants, including permanent secretaries, military and para-military personnel, heads of state agencies, students, and representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (Lagos State chapter).

It featured intercessory prayers for peace and unity in Nigeria, with special prayers offered for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and members of their respective cabinets, as well as public servants across Lagos.
