Nigerian crossdresser and social media influencer, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against Martins Vincent Otse, also called VeryDarkMan, over allegations of defamation stemming from an AI-generated audio clip.

The lawsuit, which Bobrisky announced on his Instagram page on Sunday, claims that VeryDarkMan disseminated an audio recording falsely implicating him in inappropriate relationships with high-profile individuals, including politicians and law enforcement officials.

According to Bobrisky’s legal team, VeryDarkMan allegedly used their client’s name to gain personal fame on social media. The statement reads, “Our client has informed us that in your quest for social media stardom, you have continued to exploit his name, personality, and social media influence to create media buzz for your personal gains.”

In a portion of the legal claim, Bobrisky’s lawyers further emphasized, “Recently, you alleged in one of your trending videos on various social media platforms that Deputy Inspectors General of the Nigeria Police Force, lawmakers, senators, and other politicians were engaging in illicit activities with our client, yet you have not provided any proof to support these claims.”

The lawsuit also accused VeryDarkMan of releasing harmful statements without regard for Bobrisky’s mental health, privacy, or fundamental rights. It reads, “You have persisted in making reckless and unfounded statements, disregarding our client’s mental health, general wellbeing, right to privacy, and other constitutional rights.”

Bobrisky’s legal representatives expressed that these defamatory actions have caused significant damage to his reputation, both personally and professionally. They noted, “Our client has suffered immense damage since the publication of the defamatory content by you, leading to several damaging reviews of his persona, brand, and everything he holds dear.”

Additionally, the lawsuit highlights a video posted by VeryDarkMan on September 24, 2024, where he allegedly threatened to release more damaging content unless Bobrisky complied with certain demands. The legal team described this as “an attempt at blackmail” that would destroy Bobrisky’s relationships if left unchecked.

The suit also brought attention to a recent AI-generated audio clip released by VeryDarkMan, claiming it was a conversation between Bobrisky and an unnamed individual.

Bobrisky’s legal team refuted this claim, stating, “For the record, our client has never had any audio conversation with this individual, and your act of defamation and blackmail should be retracted within 24 hours of the service of this letter of demand.”

In response to these allegations, Bobrisky’s lawyers have demanded that VeryDarkMan remove the defamatory audio from all platforms and issue a public apology.
