Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court has ruled that nine out of ten suspects linked to the EndBadGovernment protest be remanded at Kuje prison until September 11.

A pregnant suspect will be held at Suleja Correctional Service until the next adjourned date.

The suspects were arraigned by the Federal Government on six counts, including treason, inciting mutiny, destabilizing the country, intimidating the president, and destruction of public property. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defense counsel requested bail, citing the presumption of innocence, but the prosecution opposed, highlighting the capital punishment associated with the offenses.

The court adjourned the bail application hearing until September 11 and ordered the male suspects to be held at Kuje Correctional Centre and the female suspect at Suleja Correctional Service, which has facilities for females.

The defense counsel expressed satisfaction with the police’s handling of the arraignment.

The case will continue on September 11.
