On Tuesday, the Federal Government introduced the zero draft of the National Integrated Electricity Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan (NIEP-SIP).

This policy aims to tackle key challenges within Nigeria’s electricity sector and pave the way for a more robust, sustainable, and inclusive power industry.

At the unveiling event in Abuja, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu described the policy as “crucial for advancing towards a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive power sector that fulfills the needs of all Nigerians.”

The NIEP-SIP is a detailed document outlining strategic actions across the entire electricity value chain, including generation, transmission, distribution, and off-grid areas.

Adelabu highlighted that the policy was developed through extensive consultations with industry experts, stakeholders, and development partners.

He emphasized that the policy framework not only addresses current issues but also anticipates future needs to ensure a resilient and efficient power sector.
