Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikorogie, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) candidate in the recent Edo State governorship election, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and withdrawn from the race. Aikorogie announced his decision at an APC rally on August 23 at Textile Mill Road, Benin City.

Aikorogie cited his commitment to advancing Edo State as the reason for his defection. He expressed support for APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.

“I am here today to support Senator Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa,” Aikorogie stated. “I am bringing my supporters and party members to back Okpebholo because he is a proven leader who delivers results.”

He emphasized the need for leaders who take action rather than merely making promises, praising Okpebholo’s track record of engaging with the community and his dedication to public service.

Aikorogie revealed that over 5,000 of his followers will also be joining the APC. He urged the people of Edo State to overlook federal government issues and trust in Senator Okpebholo’s ability to drive the state forward.

“Despite the challenges at the federal level, I believe Senator Okpebholo’s administration will bring significant economic development, youth employment, and infrastructure improvements to Edo State,” he said. “If he has excelled as a senator, I am confident he will transform the state as governor.”
