Niger State Government has assured the Management of National Youth Service Corps that it would provide a suitable office accomodation for the North-Central NYSC Area Office Complex to be situated in Minna.
The Acting Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso, gave the assurance when he hosted the Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim on behalf of the State Governor, Dr Abubakar Sanni Bello.
He added that the State Government would continue to foster partnership that would add value to its residents and also wouldn’t relent in its efforts aimed at enhancing successful conduct of Orientation Exercises in the State.
“We will do everything necessary that will add value to NYSC in Niger State”, he said.
General Ibrahim had earlier told the Governor that Federal Government has given approval for the establishment of six Area Offices in each of the geo-political zones in the country with Minna as the location for North-Central.
He commended Niger State Government for the support it gave to NYSC SAED Centre in Minna and approval for the construction of hostel for Corps Members including the on-going construction of a befitting Hall at the Orientation Camp in Paiko.
The DG said one of his five cardinal programmes is to strengthen the existing partnership with stakeholders with a view to making NYSC better and for Corps Members to enjoy better services.
General lbrahim used the visit to appeal to State Governments to support the Scheme in making NYSC Orientation Camps more appealing to Corps Members.
“The NYSC Act stipulates that the provision of Orientation Camps and maintenance of facilities are responsibilities of State Governments.”, the DG said.
