The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a suspected serial internet fraudster, Vincent Markus, a student of the University of Maiduguri.
The arrest was made in Badirisa, Damare Ward, Girei Local Government, Adamawa State, following credible intelligence that Markus specialized in hacking and other internet-related fraudulent activities.
Markus allegedly used pseudo names on various social media platforms, including WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, to carry out his fraudulent activities.
Upon his arrest, several items were recovered, including a three-bedroom flat, a Peugeot 206, a Toyota Corolla Verso (2009 model), two Toyota Starlets (2012 and 2013 models), air-conditioners, an iPhone 14 Pro Max, an Infinix Note 30, a freezer, and a Hisense TV.
The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
