Naval Officer, 7 Others Kidnapped in Akwa Ibom, Police Confirm

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has confirmed that a naval officer and seven other individuals were abducted in Ibaka Local Government Area of the state.

In an interview on Tuesday in Eket, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Timfon John verified the abduction, stating that the victims were taken on Monday while relaxing at Classic Point Hotel in Ibaka.

Following the incident, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, led a team of officers to the community to address the situation.

“The Commissioner of Police has personally led security personnel to the area. With this intervention and other strategic measures being implemented, we are confident that normalcy will soon be restored,” John assured.

The abductors have taken the victims to an undisclosed location. Meanwhile, Base Information Officer Sub.-Lt. Nasiru Omar mentioned that he has not yet received official information regarding the abduction and thus could not provide further details.
