Tears of Joy as Colleagues Celebrate Retiring OGBC Assistant General Manager, Bola Fajounbo

Abeokuta – The Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) newsroom was filled with emotions, joy, and tributes as Assistant General Manager, Mr. Mobolaji Fajounbo, bowed out of service after several years of meritorious service to the Ogun State government.

At a valedictory session and special editorial meeting held in his honor, members of the newsroom, described as the “Newsroom Confraternity,” paid glowing tributes to their boss and colleague, affectionately called “Oga FAJ.”

Mr. Chris Ogbu, Chairman of OGBC Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, described Fajounbo as a father figure who positively impacted those under him and served as a positive role model.

He praised Fajounbo’s professionalism, meticulousness, and ability to commend and criticize without injuring emotions or personalities.

Other colleagues, including Mr. Gbenga Osindele, Mrs. Doyin Oloruntola, and Mrs. Temitope Okunola, among others, made positive remarks about Fajounbo, who they said touched the lives of everyone in the newsroom.

Bola Fajounbo, a consummate media professional, news editor, and newsroom guru, was born on August 25, 1964, in Ifo Local Government, Ogun State.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan and a Master’s in Communication Arts from the same institution.

He joined OGBC and rose through the ranks to become Assistant General Manager, News and Current Affairs Division.

Fajounbo received several awards for his professional prowess, including Editor of the Year in 1999, Best Performance/Dedication to duty in 2000, and Best Performance in News/Current Affairs in 2006 and 2012.

Colleagues described him as a meticulous professional with exceptional attention to detail, a mentor to many, and a positive role model.
