A team from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Abeokuta Study Centre, led by Director Dr. Oyekunle Adegboyega, has visited the Olowu of Owu, HRM Oba Prof. Saka Adekola Matemilola, to advocate for the university’s programs and encourage enrollment from the community.
The team was warmly received by the monarch and his chiefs, and Dr. Adegboyega highlighted the benefits of NOUN’s Open and Distance Learning (ODL) model, which makes education accessible to all. He also explained the university’s teaching methods, including online tutorial classes and practicals conducted by both NOUN staff and external lecturers.
Impressed by the presentation, HRM Matemilola promised to promote NOUN’s programs and suggested upgrading the palace library to provide students with a study resource. The director conveyed greetings from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, and his management team to the monarch.
The visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between NOUN and the Owu community, promoting education and access to knowledge.
