The Ogun State Government (OGSG) has expressed its appreciation for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund’s (TETFUND) unwavering support and interventions in the state’s higher education institutions.

The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the commendation, while playing host to members of the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and other Services, led by its Chairman, Hon. Mariam Onuoha, who were in the state on an oversight function.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor expressed delight that the presence of TETFUND was felt in various higher institutions in the state, adding that the current administration would support all efforts geared towards ensuring that the beneficiary institutions access all interventions meant for them.

“Ogun is the education capital of Nigeria and has a long-standing history of superlative educational legacies alongside achievements of its citizenry. The pro-activeness of the House Committee towards fast-tracking the process of retrieving the allocated but not yet accessed TETFUND interventions for Higher Institutions in the state domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria, is commendable”, the governor said.

He informed that his administration placed importance on its Education sector, noting that accessing the funds by institutions would go a long way in improving teaching and learning, as well as training and development of human resources.

Earlier in her remarks, Hon. Onuoha, said the committee were in the state due to accumulated N500billion TETFUND interventions, which were not accessed by states, saying a resolution was reached to relax some of the stringent provisions, to enable the affected institutions to have access to the fund.

She enjoined stakeholders to support the committee, to avail them of the opportunity of performing their tasks effectively.
