The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has convened a disciplinary panel to investigate accusations against two operatives alleged to have assaulted a woman during a hotel raid in Lagos last Thursday.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, who issued a statement in Abuja on Monday, the officers accused of misconduct are scheduled to appear before the panel on Monday.
Oyewale emphasized that EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, formed the disciplinary team specifically to address the case involving the two officers accused of assaulting a female employee of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos. The incident gained significant attention following widespread circulation of a video showing the assault during an early morning raid.
“Olukoyede has ordered the immediate arrest of the two officers and instructed them to appear before a joint Disciplinary Team consisting of the Appointment, Promotion, and Disciplinary Committee (APDC) and the Department of Ethics and Integrity. They are expected to present themselves before this Team on Monday, July 1, at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja,” Oyewale stated.
He further affirmed that the disciplinary team will thoroughly investigate the officers’ conduct and propose suitable disciplinary actions.
Olukoyede reaffirmed EFCC’s commitment to holding its officers accountable for any unprofessional conduct, ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to achieve justice in this matter.
