The Ogun State House of Assembly has urged government agencies to enforce the State Anti-Open Grazing Law and ensure herders comply with its provisions.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide made the call after receiving reports of herders moving cattle on major roads, posing a risk to motorists.

Elemide emphasized the need for full implementation of the law to maintain sanity and ensure public safety, noting that herders’ actions contravene the existing law.

He stressed that the law aims to regulate grazing and prevent clashes between herders and farmers.

Additionally, the Speaker addressed the issue of land grabbing, urging affected residents to seek legal recourse and calling on responsible authorities to enforce the Anti-Land Grabbing Law to prevent unlawful exploitation and maintain order.

He emphasized the importance of safeguarding citizens’ rights to their landed properties.

The Assembly’s call for action comes as the state grapples with the challenges of open grazing and land grabbing, which have led to conflicts and insecurity in some areas.

By implementing the Anti-Open Grazing Law and Anti-Land Grabbing Law, the state aims to promote peace, security, and sustainable development.
