The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced its 2024 annual vacation, which will begin on July 23 and end on September 13.

During this period, three divisions of the court (Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt) will remain open to handle urgent matters.

Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho stated that the vacation is necessary for judges to rest and prepare for the new legal year.

He also introduced the use of Electronic Affidavits (E-Affidavits), which will be implemented through an e-filing unit and supervised by the Deputy Chief Registrar (Litigation).

The E-Affidavit software will be available on the court’s official website, and a task force will be established to oversee its implementation. The cost of each E-Affidavit will be determined by the Chief Judge.

This innovation aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and promptness in the issuance of affidavits, aligning with global best practices.
