Police in Ogun State have arrested four suspects following a raid on several dark spots in the Abeokuta North Local Government Area on Friday.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this on Saturday, stating that the midnight raid was part of the command’s efforts to eliminate criminal elements in the state.
Odutola explained that the raid was based on credible intelligence indicating that these locations were being used as hideouts and meeting points for criminal activities.
Following a directive from the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, the Divisional Police Officer in Lafenwa led a team to these hideouts, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.
“The raid, based on intelligence, targeted criminal hideouts and meeting points such as Olomore, Brewery, Soyoye, Idi Mango, Idiya Rounda, Mile 2, Lafenwa Market, and Ita Oshin on May 17, 2024, at around 23:00 hrs. During the operation, four suspects and a tricycle with registration number SSU 685 QE were apprehended and taken to the station for questioning,” Odutola said.
She added that the suspects would be screened and investigated, and those found culpable would be prosecuted.
