The Anambra State Police Command has categorically denied reports circulating in online and national media outlets claiming that 21 soldiers were killed in the state.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the command labeled the report as “untrue, fictional, and mischievous.”
According to the police, the hospital mentioned in the report, where the alleged corpses of the soldiers were supposedly kept, does not exist in Awka, the state capital.
Furthermore, the police spokesperson emphasized that thorough investigations revealed no record or incident of any kind in the state, and warned against creating unnecessary tension.
The command has urged the public to disregard the report entirely, stating that it will not hesitate to invoke relevant cyber laws against individuals or organizations found spreading false information.
This clarification by the Anambra State Police Command aims to put to rest the misinformation and reassure the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.
