Titilayo Adebeshin, a 43-year-old mother of three from Ogun State, is fighting for her life as she battles stage four anorectal cancer. Despite her brave efforts, she is overwhelmed by the excruciating pain and the mounting medical bills.
Adebeshin’s ordeal began in 2023 when she started experiencing severe weight loss, bloody stools, and diarrhea.
Initially, her symptoms were misdiagnosed as piles, and she received ineffective treatment. As her condition worsened, she underwent medical tests and scans, revealing the devastating diagnosis of stage four anorectal cancer.
With tears streaming down her face, Adebeshin recounted her struggles, “I’ve been in severe pain, and my family has spent all they have to manage my condition. I take 16 injections daily to alleviate the pain, which costs N13,000, an expense we can no longer afford.”
Adebeshin has already undergone three sessions of chemotherapy at the Ibadan Oncologist Centre, incurring a cost of over N1 million.
To save her life, she requires six sessions of chemotherapy and surgery, totaling N1.4 million.
The surgery includes a colostomy bag procedure to facilitate easy passage of stool, costing N230,000, and additional tests (CT scan and Colonoscopy) costing N150,000.
Adebeshin’s husband and she are unable to bear the financial burden, and she is appealing to kind-hearted individuals and organizations for assistance.
