The Oyo state Independent Electoral commission, (OYSIEC) has disclosed It’s preparedness towards the coming local government elections in the state on Saturday, while warning that there would be movement restrictions from 6am to 4pm.
The chairman of OYSIEC, Aare Isiaka Olagunju SAN who disclosed this in his office, explained that the voting exercise proper would commence from 8am to 3pm.
The chairman noted that sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials have been distributed to over fifteen councils, including Oke-Ogun 1, 2 and Ogbomosho zones, while for Ibadan zone, distribution would commence tomorrow Friday.
Meanwhile electoral materials were seen been off loaded and loaded into vehicles with staffs of the commission supervising the process for onward transportation to their various local government areas.
Aare Olagunju advocated for more cooperation from the electorates, noting that 15,000 security personnel, including the Police, NSCDC, Immigration, Anti- corruption agencies would be deployed for the elections, calling on the citizens to have total confidence that the outcome of Saturday’s local government elections would truly reflect the choices of the people.
The OYSIEC chairman also acknowledged that there would be cancelation of electoral results in the instances of violence, harassment or threat to electoral officials, adding that the final chairmanship results would be input on the IREV, and formally announced at the headquarters of OYSIEC from 4pm on Saturday.
