FCT Police Apprehend AEDC Employee, Accomplices for Transformer Theft

In a decisive operation, the FCT police command has detained six individuals, including an Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) employee, on allegations of pilfering and vandalizing a transformer.

The apprehended suspects, identified as Kabiru Muhammed, Aliyu Usman, Abdulmalik Alhasassan, Shafi’u Suleiman, Suleiman Ibrahim, and Raymond Mailabari, all residents of Tipper Garage, Mpape, Abuja, were tracked down following credible intelligence.

As detailed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects were intercepted while attempting to abscond with a disassembled transformer loaded onto a crane truck in Maitama.

Subsequent investigations led to the recovery of the stolen transformer, alongside a crane truck, a blue Mercedes Benz (Reg No. PKN 497 XA), a white J5 bus (Reg No. RBC 228 XC), and an ash-colored Peugeot 406 (Reg No. GSN 13 AA) registered to the implicated AEDC staff member.

While inquiries into the incident are ongoing, Commissioner of Police FCT, Benneth Igweh, reiterated his unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property within the Territory.

He further urged residents to remain vigilant and utilize police emergency hotlines to promptly report any suspicious activities, underscoring the collaborative effort to maintain public safety.
