So-Safe Corps Nabs Robber Brandishing Fake Pistol in Ogun

In a significant operation, the So-Safe Corps of Ogun State has captured an individual known for committing armed robberies using a gas lighter disguised as a firearm.

The was revealed on a press release issued by Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, the head of the So-Safe Corps, disseminated by Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps.

According to the statement, on the night of March 22, 2024, around 21:35 hrs, officers from the Agbara Area Command, led by Assistant Commander Adebesin Lukmon, apprehended Oluwatosin Ayinde, a resident of Idanyin, Agbara, in the Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area, during a routine patrol.

Commander Ganzallo revealed that the Corps received distressing news of the abduction of an okada rider, Abiodun Ogunbiyi, at gunpoint. However, upon investigation, it was discovered that the weapon used was a deceptive stainless pistol. Despite initial struggles, the victim managed to resist, leading to the apprehension of Ayinde and his accomplice.

Upon noticing the approaching officers, the suspect hastily disposed of the gas lighter, resembling a stainless pistol, into a nearby bush. This deceptive tactic was his tool for instilling fear and coercion.

Furthermore, Commander Ganzallo disclosed that Ayinde confessed to his criminal activities and disclosed his affiliation with the notorious Eye Confraternity cult group.

Exhibits retrieved from the suspect’s possession included a blue Honda motorbike, manually marked LSR 615 QM, and two Techno Spark4 phones, identified as belonging to a student named Abel Kente.

Following standard procedure, the suspect and the confiscated items were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, specifically to the Idanyin Divisional Headquarters, for thorough investigation and potential prosecution.
