The House of Representatives has suspended plenary sessions until April 16th to observe the Easter and Eid holidays.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas concluded Wednesday’s session by adjourning the House.

Prior to the adjournment, lawmakers granted President Bola Tinubu’s requests to extend the implementation period for the capital component of the 2023 budget and the 2023 supplementary budget.

Tinubu had formally requested an extension for these bills.

Lawmakers expedited the passage of both bills as per the President’s request.

In addition, the House passed another bill proposed by the President, which aims to increase the wages and allowances of judicial officers.

On Tuesday, the President submitted a bill to amend the Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, Etc) Bill.

This bill aims to set salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits for judicial officers to address prolonged stagnation in their remuneration and align with current socio-economic conditions.

The bill was also approved by lawmakers before the adjournment.
