The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended a cunning middle-aged deportee in Ondo State, accused of orchestrating a fraudulent visa scheme that left victims in his wake.

Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye, leading the charge, disclosed that the suspect was nabbed in Akure after fleeing Okitipupa, where he had allegedly scammed individuals with promises of securing U.S.A visas.

Unveiling the shocking details during a press conference in Akure on Tuesday, Ibiloye revealed that the suspect, masquerading as a U.S. Army captain, duped a vulnerable woman of N300,000, enticing her with the allure of a job opportunity in America.

“On February 20, a distressing report of visa scam reached us, and it became apparent that the suspect, who claimed to be a U.S. Army officer on leave in Nigeria, was preying on unsuspecting victims,” said the Commandant.

The devious culprit, having met his victim online on May 2, 2023, employed cunning tactics to extract money, only to vanish into thin air, leaving the victim in despair.

The NSCDC, however, relentlessly pursued the trail, eventually cornering the scam artist in Akure.

In a startling confession, the suspect admitted to his misdeeds, shedding light on his deportation and revealing, “I am not a captain in the U.S. Army. I obtained a Master’s degree in the U.S.A. before I was deported. I collected the said amount as I was planning to relocate to another country.’ he said.
