Asiwaju Wahab who was also honoured with a special merit award in recognition of his meritorious service and positive contribution to Islam, called on parents to speak to their children about the consequences of intake of illicit drugs.

Asiwaju Wahab who described drug abuse as a social menace in the society cited that it’s ruining many lives, especially the health of the users, families, communities and nations across the world.

He attributed most of the social vices in the society such as kidnapping, cultism, robbery, rape, cyber crime and domestic violence to the abuse of drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroine, among others.

He said many factors were recognized as major predictors of drug abuse in this generation, including poor parenting, exposure to technology, and the environment.

“As a drug abuse advocate, I’ll like to talk to our parents about the effect drug abuse is having on the younger ones “.

“This can however be attributed to poor parenting, peer group influence, exposure to technology, and the environment “.
