Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics; Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have embarked on indefinite strike over non-payment of salaries and allowances for three months.

The unions, in a communique issued at the end of the Joint Action Committee, on Wednesday, lamented the attitude of the institution’s management to staff welfare.

They also stated non-release of the 2019 appointments and 2020 promotions to staff members; non-remittance of pensions; cooperative and union deductions for over 45 months and non-approval of conversion and upgrading exercise to eligible members of staff.

They alleged the management of financial recklessness and non-challant attitude to workers’ welfare.

The unions stated that they had written a series of letters to school management on the need to prioritize the welfare of members of staff, but to no avail.

The unions, therefore, passed a vote of no confidence on the Rector, Dr.Adeoye Odedeji and the Bursar, Mr. Fatai Yekini of the institution, and called for intervention from Governor Dapo Abiodun.
