Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, an All Progressives Congress Support Group, Bola Campaign Organization (BCO), has urged members-elect of the Senate and House of Representatives to respect the zoning arrangement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the leadership of the chambers.

BCO made this appeal known in a statement jointly signed by its National Patron, Alhaji Abdulwahab Korede Quadri (FCIB), National Coordinator, QS Mohammed Makinta (FNIQS) and National Women Leader, Alhaja Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, on Sunday, stressed that this development will help in promoting party discipline as well as upholding party supremacy.

The group maintained that the choice of the rulling party, All Progressives Congress and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Senator Godswill Akpabio to become the Senate President and Hon. Tajudeen Abass, as speaker of the House of Representatives will further ensure the nation’s stability.

The group however appealed to members of the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC), who are aggrieved over the zoning and endorsements of candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives leadership to sheath their swords in the overall interest of the country.

“As all is set for the Inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, we are passionately appealing to elected lawmakers of the Senate and House of Representatives to align their interest with that of the party”.

“The choice of Godswill Akpabio for Senate President and Hon. Tajedeen Abass as Speaker of the House of Representatives will ensure a more cordial relationship between the executive and the legislature”.

“The country must endeavor to sustain the achievements recorded in the outgoing 9th Assembly where there are tangible successes owing to the cordial relationship between the two arms of government”.

“It is therefore important to maintain a good a suitable condition for legislature to function without confusion or turbulence”.

“We therefore appeal to all lawmakers elect who are aggrieved over the zoning arrangements to sheath their swords in the overall interest of the Party (APC) and Nigeria”, the group added.

It would be recalled that the party in a statement issued in April named Senator Godswill Akpabio from the South – South part of the country as the endorsed choice for the Senate Presidency, to be deputized by Senator Barau Jibrin from North – West.

Like wise, the party also endorsed Hon. Tajudeen Abass (North West) as the preferred Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, while Hon. Ben Kalu (South -East) got the nod for the Deputy Speaker position.
