Remain Steadfast, Upright, Ogun Deputy Governor Charges Muslim Faithful

Ogun State Deputy Governor has called on Muslim faithful to continue to walk in the dictates of Islam even after the Holy month of Ramadan.

She gave the call during the Annual Ramadan lecture of the Ansar-ud-deen Society, Ijebu-Ode Branch with the Theme, “Roles of Governance and Citizen Participation in Ensuring Sound Democratic Dispensation.

According to her, Ramadan which is one of the important pillars of Islam is a period of self-denial when Muslims are expected to be sober and in constant supplication to Almighty Allah, adding that Muslims shouldn’t just restrict themselves to be upright during this period but at all times.

Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele reiterated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration would continue to deliver on the dividends of democracy as stipulated in his developmental agenda from the inception of his government.

She charged the citizens to play their role in making Nigeria great, as the government does not have all the wherewithal to do it alone, using the present administration as an example of an all-encompassing and all-inclusive style of governance.

She congratulated the Ansar-ud-Deen society on its centenary celebration, noting that the society has played major roles in the country at large and not just in the area of religion but also in health care delivery and Education.

In his remarks, Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Gazal, commended the Ansar-ud-deen society Ijebu-Ode branch, for its humanitarian gesture and developmental projects across the State, saying it would complement government’s efforts in bringing succour to the citizens of the State.

Delivering his lecture, the guest lecturer, Fadheelat Sheikh Imam, Muhydeen Ajani Bello, appreciated Almighty Allah for His benevolence and gift of life to observe this Ramadan, adding that Muslim faithful must learn how to give thanks to Almighty Allah for His unflinching goodness and mercy upon them.

He said that God made Ramadan compulsory for all Muslim faithful in order for them to move close to God as well as fear Him, adding that the 29 to 30 days fasting has been mandated for Muslims by God so as to be able to fulfil all His commandments. He urged those that couldn’t fast due to one reason or the other to extend the hands of fellowship to the less privileged who are fasting.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Ansar-ud-deen Ijebu-Ode branch Chairman, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Adebajo said the society being one of the leading Muslim societies has spread it tentacles by building hospitals and schools with a view to making life more bearable for the masses.
