The Ogun State Government has signified her intention through the Ministry of Transportation and its agencies to collaborate and synergize with the Federal Government, Lagos State Government and other relevant stakeholders to ease traffic jam and other incumberances along the Kara, Berger-Opic corridor of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, necessitated by the last phase of reconstruction work, presently ongoing at the axis, by Julius Berger Construction Company, under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
The state government gave this assurance in a statement signed by the Hon. Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, at the end of a technical session with all stakeholders directly connected and related to the decongestion of traffic build up along the boundaries between Lagos and Ogun State, spanning from Secretariat to Otedola Bridge, Berger and Opic,, in view of the review of the traffic management plan, occasioned by the snail pace movement of traffic along the route and the traffic demand from the Ogun State end.
Consequently, Ogun state government, through the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, and the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), under the auspices of the Ministry of Transportation would synergize with the Federal Road Safe Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), along the Kara, Berger-Opic corridor to guarantee effective traffic management, as the last phase of the ongoing reconstruction work by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing reach its crescendo, in order to mitigate the inconveniences experienced by motorists.
Nevertheless, the general public, particularly the motoring public are admonished to show understanding and cooperate with all stationed traffic control personnel along the routes, by adhering to traffic rules and regulations, drive cautiously and responsibly, avoid route violation (One-Way) and overbearing attitude that may truncate the plan of all stakeholders to actualize a seamless traffic flow along the corridor while the recontruction lasts.
