Group Of Lawyers Issue Deadline To INEC To Review Ogun Governorship Poll
A group of lawyers have issued a seven day deadline to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review its conduct of the last Saturday’s governorship poll in Ogun State.

The lawyers, under the auspice of ‘ Concerned Indigenes of Ogun’ in an open letter to INEC, did not state their next line of action, after the expiration of the deadline.

The coordinator of the group, Femi Oniyide, addressing a news conference on Thursday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital faulted the outcome of the governorship poll.

It expressed concern over the cancellation of results from 100 polling units, for non holding of the poll due to violence and malfunctioning of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

In the process, the group said 31,000 registered voters could not participate in the poll because of violent attacks.

The group explained that the margin between votes recorded by Governor Dapo Abiodun and those not allowed to vote was very huge, and INEC ought to have delay announcing the results of the poll.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has urged Governor Dapo Abiodun not to renege on all the promises he made during electioneering campaign, ahead of the just concluded Ogun State governorship poll.

Ogun State wing of the NUT said the re-election of the governor last Saturday was divinely arranged by God.

The state chairman, Akinola Abiodun and Secretary, Samson Oyelere, in a statement ask the governor to see his re-election as a call to do more and serve the people diligently.

According to the union, the impact of his efforts to satisfy the insatiable people in the state, who could not see beyond personal gains had been rewarded by God.

The union promises its unflinching support for the governor.
