The Ogun State Chapter of Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN), has endorsed Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State Governor for second term in office.
Speaking during a special delegate conference of the association in Abeokuta, the Chairman of the body, Emmanuel Gbenga Jolaoluwa said the decision to endorse the Governor was taken after careful assessment of his achievements in environmental governance especially in the waste management sub- sector which has impacted positively on the residents of the state.
He said prior to the inception of the present administration in 2019, the environmental situation of the state is nothing to write home about but the situation now is not only better but one of the best in the country as Ogun State is one of the cleanest state in the country.
Jolaoluwa also said the waste management reform in the state through the establishment of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority OGWAMA, has also provided employment opportunities for thousand of residents of the state as well as wealth creation among the citizenry.
“For all these opportunities as well as obvious and verifiable achievements by Governor Dapo Abiodun in this critical environmental sector, the over two thousand strong members of the Ogun State Chapter of AWAMN has whole- heartedly endorsed the Governor for second term and enjoined residents of the state to vote massively for the Governor and his party during the forthcoming gubernatorial election, so that the gains in the last four years in the environment especially in waste management can be consolidated.
Ola Oresanya, Commissioner for Environment while responding on behalf of the Governor, said the endorsement is a reward for quality service delivery to the good people of the state by the Governor and enjoin AWAMN members to further spread the good work of the Governor through their door to door campaign as the election day is near.
He assured them and the good people of the state that the state Governor will further consolidate on his achievements in the environment sector through further wealth creation, more employment opportunities which will lead to healthier living for residents of the state in his second term in office.
