2023: No plans to abandon predecessor’s legacy projects – Gov. Abiodun

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that his administration has no intention to abandon any project inherited by his administration, declaring that the redesigning of the Lafenwa road was in the interest of the people of the state.

Abiodun made this disclosure when he paid a homage visit to the palace of the Osile of Oke-Ona-Egba, Oba Adedapo Tejuosho, as part of his campaign tour of the Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.

He noted that the redesigning of the Lafenwa road had made the road more comfortable for the people of the state.

Abiodun who also disclosed that the redesigning of the road which has now moved towards Alamala has made it easier for men of the Nigerian Army stationed at the 35 Artillery Brigade to respond in good time to distress calls.

The state governor, while also noting that his administration, after having an on-the-spot assessment of the bridge around Mokola-Elega road, had begun work on it, adding that the current state of water supply in the state is connected to the years of destruction of water pipes by contractors engaged by the immediate past administration.

Abiodun who also noted that his administration had ensured the timely completion of the Arakanga Water Works in the local government, added that the water works after its completion is now a world class water works.

“The major problem with water distribution, aside the reservoir, is that most of our water pipes in Abeokuta were destroyed by some contractors in the past, because a clause wasn’t inserted in their contracts to ensure that they repair water pipes when destroyed by them in the cause of construction.

“Now, all our contracts have the clause inserted in them, because you cannot be building something and destroying another thing, I can assure you that as soon as we replace most of the destroyed pipes, water distribution won’t be a problem,” he pointed out.

The governor reiterated that his administration would continue to be fair, just and equitable in the distribution of projects across the state, insisting his government would not develop any part of the state at the expense of others.

Abiodun, however, commended the contribution of the Royal Fathers in the local government towards ensuring a more stable domains through their various support to the security of lives and property.

The state governor declared that the state under his watch would not be defined by thuggery and violence, emphasizing that the political temperature in the state has been lowered by his administration.

He further stated that his administration would commence a payment system for Baales in the state this month, calling on those who are yet to be registered to ensure they do so.

The governor who called on the traditional rulers in the local government to urge their subjects to go all out and vote for candidates of the All Progressives Congress during the forthcoming elections, calling for 100% support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential aspiration.

In his remarks, the Osile of Oke-Ona-Egba; Oba Tejuoso, while commending Governor Abiodun for a job well done in the last three and half years, noted that he was looking forward for four more years of another set of unprecedented development for the state.

The Iyalode of Yorubaland; Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, the Olowu of Owu; Oba Saka Matemilola and the Agura of Gbagura; Oba Sabur Bakre were among dignitaries present during the visit.
