The Wesley Primary School Children of Oke Eri in Ijebu North East of Ogun State are strongly appealing to Ogun State government, under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun to come to their aid in proffering swift palliatives to the deplorable road leading to Oke Eri community, which has continued to cause serious injuries to some of the school pupils.

Our correspondent who visited the scene reported how badly the condition of the road to the economy of the community, and as it also becomes death trap to school children on their ways to school.

He also reports that some bad portions of the road have continued to aid robbery and kidnapping at the dead hour of the day, which as a matter of urgency requires swift intervention of government.

Having reached the worst, the children trooped out enmass on last week, soliciting for swift government intervention after an Okada carrying a student to school in the morning fell into the dangerous part of the road and caused serious injury to the innocent child.

An eye witness account confirms the incident to our correspondent, with narratives of the incessant hardship the residents of the community daily encounter as a result of the bad condition of the road.

This is a state road that leads to the Sungbo Tourist center and links directly as alternative road to Ijebu Igbo and many other communities including Imope.

The children, upon consistent damages sustain from the deplorable condition of the road, trooped out on Thursday morning to proffer palliatives in their little capacities to prevent further accident exposed to by the condition of the road.

The children thereby appeal to State government, Ogun East Senator, House of Rep member of the constituency, State house of assembly member and Ijebu North East Council Chairman to please swiftly come to their aid for the swift rehabilitation of the school.

An elderly resident of the community who showed solidarity support to the efforts of the children lamented the unimaginable marginalization of Oke Eri Community from dividends of democracy since in 1999.

In his word, he said: Oke Eri community has been totally neglected by the government. In February 2020 when Ogun State sent delegation to visit Sungbo tourist center, all hope was very high that government was about to intervene in reviving the community from economic extinction. But all nah foul…! I hope this time around government will hear the cry of the school pupils”, said Mr. Felix
