The Ogun state government through the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) has sponsored and facilitated capacity building Workshop, for all the Directors of Planning, Research, and Statistics (DPRS) and Schedule officers for Monitoring and Evaluation activities across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) within the state.
The 2-day capacity program kicks started today August 16th, 2022, and was declared open by the Chairman Project Technical Committee of OGSTEP, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, who also doubles as the Honorable Commissioner for budget and planning.
During his remarks, Mr. Olabimtan noted that the Project Development Objective (PDO) is aimed at supporting the Ogun State government’s efforts to increase the participation of the private sector in the State’s economy with a focus on improving the business-enabling environment, strengthening agri-food value-chains, and upgrading skills.
He noted further that OGSTEP is tailored to align with the Ogun State Agenda of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration in ensuring that there’s a seamless interaction between the public and private sectors.
“Also, due to His Excellency’s vision of instituting best practices and reforms to make our public financial management system a world-class one, this administration has embarked on a series of mechanisms to move the State forward, which among others include the reinvigoration of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) mechanism in the State through the creation of State Technical Working Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation, domestication of the National M&E Policy, and recent the creation of M&E Units across MDA’s,” he said.
He concluded that “the training is the 2nd in the series of capacity building training workshops which OGSTEP is expected to conduct for all M&E Officers across all MDAs to have a virile M&E system in Ogun State.”
