As the world celebrates this year’s International Women’s Day, the President of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation and Chairman of Ifedara Opeji Area CDC, Alhaji (Asiwaju) Dapo Wahab has called on Government at all levels to include gender consideration in all sustainable works and climate action such as SSG development plans.
Asiwaju Dapo Wahab made this known in a statement through his Director on Media and Publicity, Adejola Adeyemi Crown on Tuesday, he described the contribution of women as one of the significant of women in a facet of life and expressed commitment towards ensuring an end to gender-based violence in his environment.
He said, “I wish all the women throughout the globe happy international women’s day. This is a significant day in the lives of all women throughout the world in celebration of the Women and girls who are contributing to the development of their respective communities and society at large”.
“As United Nations puts the theme for year 2022 as ” Gender equality today for a sustainable tommorow.” I encourage government and stakeholders to include gender consideration in all sustainable development work and climate action such as SDG development plans”.
“In addition the following should be taken note in order to ensure gender equality: women should be helped to gain power, Giving support to mothers and parents, Watch for signs of domestic violence, Women should be allowed to mentor men, Work – life balance should be prioritized and Skill based assessment should be considered”, he noted.
“I want to believe that if gender equality ingredients above are given chances it would prevent violence against women and girls and that Gender equality is essential for economic prosperity .Societies that value women and men equal are safer and healthier”, he concluded.
