Dividends of Democracy: Abiodun promises even Development

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has restated his determination to developed every parts of the State, towards ensuring equitable distribution of dividends of democracy.

Governor Abiodun made this known at the inauguration of the Yewa People Development Council (YPDC) and end of the year reception of the Yewa Traditional Council, held at Ilaro.

Abiodun said it would be great injustice to concentrate development on a section and leave the others.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Governor added that establishing spirit of togetherness is a pivot on which societal development rest.

” I want to emphasize on it again that no part of Ogun Ṣtate will be developed at the expense of another and I believe that
nothing can be achieved without the people”, he noted.

While speaking on the inauguration of the Yewa People Council, Governor Abiodun stated that its incorporation was in tandem with his’ ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda, saying opinion of the the people would always count at all times.

According to him, ” this inauguration could not have come at a better time than now. It indicates that Yewa people are poised to start the new year on a positive note”.

The Governor called on public -spirited indigenes of Yewaland to join hands for the advancement of the area,’ ” saying cultural identity is nothing without political identity”.

In his address, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland,, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, called on sons and daughters of Yewaland to invest in their hometown to enhance development, emphasizing the need to complement government’s effort.

” Let us face development and leave politics for the politicians. We must see how we can galvanise and bring our children all over the world together and encourage them towards the development of Yewaland”, Oba Olugbenle said.

In his presentation, the Chairman, YPDC , Prof. Rahaman Bello, said the non- profit organisation was created to carry out activities and enforce unity among the people of Yewaland, promote effective development in all strata, as well as giving optimum priority to the needs of the people in the area.

In his welcome address , the Olu of Imasayi, Oba Kuoye Lukman, commended indigenes of the area who have been making the State proud in their endeavours, urging them not to relent in their oars and continue to promote peace and harmony among themselves.
