Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, other Obas Grace Iba Day Festival

The ancient town of Ibà was agog on Monday as the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, HRM Oba (Dr) Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe the Ajagbusi Ekun VI, led over 15 Yoruba Obas to the town for this year’s edition of Ibà day Festival.

Iba day is an age-long festival celebrated by the Eburu of Iba and the people of Iba, bringing together indigenes from home and in diaspora to receive royal blessings.

While congratulating the people of Ibà and the monarch, Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba (Dr) Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, prayed for peace and tranquility in the town.

In his speech Owaloko commended the Eburu of Iba for the wonderful cultural event, which he encouraged other Royal Fathers to emulate in their various kingdoms.

“As you can see, all the sons and daughters of Iba from far and near are rejoicing, it is like a homecoming where they come together to celebrate the ingenuity of people of Iba. The first-class traditional ruler also used the opportunity to appeal to youths to desist from drug abuse and other social vices.

While congratulating the Eburu of Iba and the people of Iba, Owaloko emphasised on the importance of culture preservation, and the vital role it could play in bringing peace to communities.
