NYSC DG Calls For More Responsiveness On Gender Issues

The NYSC Director General Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has called on the general public to be more responsive to gender related issues in the society.

He made the call while flagging off the grassroots gender sensitization Programme at the Permanent Orientation Camp Kubwa , Abuja.

The Director General who was represented by the Director General Services Mr Emmanuel Attah , said that the NYSC is poised to provide sustainable advocacy towards the enlightenment of the public on the dangers of Gender Based Violence and discriminatory practices especially in the rural areas of the country.

The Director General noted that gender based violence should be discouraged by all lawful means added that the NYSC will continue to work assiduously in order to reduce the negative trend through the well structured and systematic activities of the Corps Gender Vanguards in conjunction with other relevant stakeholders.

The Assistant Director FCT Reforms , Mrs Angela Nwaoha delivered a lecture on the ills of Gender Based Violence to children from primary and secondary schools in Kubwa as well as parents and community leaders who attended the programme.
